The Legong Dance is a classical dance that began as a temple dance performed to appease the Gods. Later, it was performed for the entertainment of the Royalty.

Legong is the epitome of grace and beauty that is performed with highly styled slow movements and the delicateness of the dance is highlighted the very young performers who are dressed in rich traditional costumes. Performers are recruited around the age of four or five years and they retire upon reaching puberty.

According to the legend, it is the heavenly dance of divine nymphs.
